College Help Power Skills Degree

In order to begin matriculating towards the degree, please enroll first.

Overview:  Power skills, often referred to as “soft skills,” are the key to personal and professional success. While the technical skills and knowledge required to achieve company goals are essential, a person’s ability to communicate effectively with people in the workplace is one of the most important attributes sought out by hiring managers. Few students have access to training and development in power skills. For this reason, USLI is proposing a degree for our college help students that will provide the knowledge and develop the skills so critical in today’s workplace.

Goal: Our goal is to provide not only the coursework that will serve as the foundation for development of students’ power skills but also to create application opportunities that demonstrate growth in these areas. In addition, students strengthen their communication skills by class interaction while learning with peers and receiving ongoing feedback.

Educational Approach: Students will be required to complete the following:

  1. Prework: A personal assessment that measures the student’s self-awareness of his/her abilities in several categories
  2. Coursework: Ten courses developed and delivered by USLI employees
  3. Check-in meetings with USLI leadership:
    1. After completion of each course to review main learning points;
    2. Bi-weekly to review the student’s growth in the areas identified on the personal self-assessment
  4. Final assessment: meeting with student’s USLI leader for final review of personal assessment growth areas; 300-word essay summarizing how the Power Skills Degree benefitted them, including initial development areas and current strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Coursework: Students will be required to attend the following in-person classes:

  1. Personal Communication Skills
  2. Communication Styles and Techniques
  3. Non-verbal communication
  4. Listening Skills
  5. Giving and Receiving Feedback
  6. Effective Presentation Skills

Students will also be required to complete the following on-demand courses and complete the associated quizzes/assignments:
